SARS NEW
Segundo
$27.5
(GST included) (+P&H)

Tsunami magazine's review...
"SARS slinks onto your stereo, impeccably clad and very well heeled,
demanding your head twist twice to take in its smooth delivery. It positions
itself halfway between Argentinean tango and Gyspy Jazz, with a slow
nod to springtime in Paris. This is the second self-produced CD from
SARS and they have taken their craft to a new level. Their form combines
delectable notes on the double bass (what a sexy looking instrument,
what a sublime sound), with vigorous violin playing, persuasive percussion
and guitar genius. Expect blistering string solos and perfectly compatible
collaborative playing. Special guest vocalist Kacey Patrick (stringmansassy)
lends her angelic tones to a mesmerising remake of the Duke Ellington
tune 'Caravan' and the hypnotic 'Historia de un Amor'. Inspired and
exciting."

ABC
Radio's David Dowsett's comments...
The Flamenco Fire CD has not been out of my CD player since receiving
it. It captures the very soul of flamenco music and then some. Rousing
rhythms and sparkling guitar reign supreme.
The traditionalists may frown at the use of double bass and violin with
flamenco, but for me it works perfectly and adds greatly to the atmosphere
of the album. Great singing, lively footwork, the whole album is a treat.
Pour yourself a good glass of red, settle back, put the CD on and you're
in Seville. Saves the airfare!
Cheers,
David Dowsett

Flamenco Fire 2005
Live at the Judy
$28.0
(GST included) (+P&H)

Tsunami magazine's review...
“I was lucky enough to catch Flamenco Fire in concert at the Woodford
Folk Festival. If you haven't caught their show then this CD is a most
excellent consolation prize. Its selective mix of live recordings at
the Judith Wright Centre in Brisbane beautifully captures the essence
of the experience. Flamenco embraces and celebrates life, it is passionate
and joyful. The style is characteristic of Gypsy music and dance; vigorous
and rhythmic, with clapping hands and stamping feet. The classic guitar,
song and dance form is delivered with a contemporary edge. Flamenco
Fire invites you to taste Espana in ten delicious bite size tracks.
Live at the Judy offers original and traditional pieces freshly arranged
by master guitarists Andrew Veivers, Kieren Ray and Werner Neumann.
Fast and furious footwork from the dancers provides the percussion and
the soaring vocals go straight to the heart centre. You may find yourself
gasping in bursts of breath as all of a sudden you realise you've been
completely transfixed and have forgotten to take in air. There is more
to life than the mundane....savour it.”“
